Hello!

I just recently discovered EL as the origins of the infinity ecus. I have an Infinity 506, and would love to restore its capabilities with the EL firmware. I’ve created an account and registered the ecu with EL and am still pending verification. This forum may have the largest concentrated wealth of info I’ve found so far and it seems pretty quiet here. Is EL still validating hardware and providing access to the firmware?

I have no good news for you. The website is still there and I tested the store about a year ago and it would accept an order......but emails are mostly not answered and I was told they haver taken the ECU out of production so current stock only.

The ecu registrations software download is probably automated so it might still work?

If it does I'm happy to share a copy of my last model. My ecu spark 1 driver died last fall so I"m now without working HW and have moved on to a new ecu project

I was able to get the EL console installed and download the examples, drivers, etc. But when attempting to connect to the ecu with the EL Console, I get an error saying I need a firmware upgrade.

Is there any other way to obtain the firmware? The configurability the EL software offers is exactly what I’m looking for to use in my racecar.

Ok, you will need to register on the EL webite. Once you have an account you can register your ecu clicking add

Then you click on view available and if it worked you'll see FW options

when you load the FW everything AEM will be gone, blank slate. I can share my model as a starting point if you like

The serial number can be found by opening the ECU, its on the processor

or you can connect with the AEM tool and read it. The ecu needs to be in flash mode for it to connect

This is where I’m at, it’s been pending for a few days. I pulled that serial number with Infinity Tuner as shown in the firmware section. Does that serial number format look correct? I’m away from home at the moment, but I can download the tool or open the case to verify if that’s necessary.

It looks right. If it's just sitting that likely means its not automatic and also likely a dead end. Sorry.

Oof. I guess I’ll just keep my fingers crossed. Maybe I’ll crack it open just to verify the serial number is correct. But anyway, thanks for your help!

I came into possession of this Infinity ecu by chance. It was left over from a project that wrapped up at work, and being a packrat, I jumped at the opportunity to squirrel it away for a future project of my own. Even if I can’t get all of the functionality I want with the AEM software and need to go another route, I’m not into it for any money.

Looks like I was mistaken and it’s actually a 508h and not a 506.

In regards to your ecu linked above, is this a hobby thing for you or are a hw/sw guy by trade? Because that is seriously cool.

Fingers crossed you get it registered.

Its a small group effort. This is better hw and some refinements to opensource firmware. Alpha unit running a car, beta order should go out any day, hopefully production units by june. My day job is product development manager, kind of system level, user needs, keep the focus on the prize not the sparkly things along the path. There is a HW guy and a FW guy...I make lists and says no a lot. This will have more I/O than the AEM/EL infinity unit, about the same processor speed, not as nice an interface if I'm being honest, but at $499 I think people will over look that.

This new unit does have the ability for a used to create custom feature too. Again not as easily as EL, but its scripting language that doesn't look horrible to do and its easy to add load the new feature. Beyond average user but so is all of EL, power users like it though. The opensource is rusefi, you can take a look.....very developer types heavy, we are tryign to clean it up and package it for the masses.

I’ll definitely be watching for updates. Is your website the best place to stay current?

I’ve done a little scripting (vba in excel, but I just picked up an arduino so I could start learning with physical hardware). I’m quite familiar with engine tuning but I’m sure the total package would still be a substantial learning curve. Though the challenge of learning something new is half the fun!

I'll be doing an install on my car so you'll see it on my thread here
http://gemellocattivo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=319

or here

The product website will be getting attention in the coming weeks (or months) as well. I'm working on a user manual so a draft will go up for beta users to have like in march and hopefully get refined to everything is true and correct by June for launch.

Stuff like the scripting though, that is advanced users, I'm not 100% sure how I want to handle it. There is some very high level info on the rusefi wiki, but no where near enough for it to help most people including myself so I'll need to create something, I'm thinking a library of basic functions people can see and use as the start of whatever they want to build. We'll see.
