I have been watching this incredible undertaking since the beginning.

It would be wonderful if someone would make movies of your final
checking and engine starting. You should use a good camera ---
maybe two. You could rent them if need be. I am willing to
contribute $20 for this, and if we get a few others to also
contribute, this should surely pay for the camera rental.

I am sure that we all wish you the best of luck with
no crossed wires out of your 100 connections.

Lowell

Cross-over done.

I need oil in the trans, coolant, and I think I'm going to do some cutting on the ducati velocity stacks I have and put them on so there is at least something even is they are short.

Thanks Chris.

It's got temporary stacks now. The cuts aren't real straight....but they are temporary and done so I think that makes the cuts ok

Breakfast break.

Oil in the trans done. I wasn't exactly sure how I was going to get it in with the fill plug wedged up against the fuel tank but with a little heat I was able to extract the vent and fill through that hole. Moving the fill plug is on the to-do next time the engine comes out.

Coolant time.

hmmmmmmmmm..........that not how it's supposed to look. :?

No more fun for today, it looks like the rear head needs to come off to figure out why the #4 runner is filled with coolant :(

i guess we all kind of knew SOMETHING had to go wrong. Now to decide if I should try to pull the head with the engine in the car or pull the engine and address the trans fill plug and the slow drip from the timing cover.

First thing though is to get the coolant back out.

I decided to go ahead and test the fuel system before taking anything apart ...it's fine and the regulator is now set to 58psi.

I also checked the sump for any signs of coolant....just oil

I'm going to see if I can get the head off as that seems to be the only real issue. and it looks doable in the car. There is still a couple gallons of coolant unaccounted for....must be sitting in the block. I know I can reach the plug....and maybe there's a way to not drain it onto the floor.

That sucks.

I don't know about pulling the head with the motor in. I do know you can pull that baby out in your sleep.

But then again there's a lot of stuff to take apart again?

I'm getting a headache just thinking about it.

It does suck...but it was also the most probable outcome. There is a reason normal people don't grind holes in their ports.

Pulling the engine is probably.....20-30 hours with all the stuff that needs to be disconnected. I think I can pull the head in about 10, it doesn't look too bad and if I can't and need to pull the engine I really haven't lost anything . I've been in the shop since 5am so I'm about done for today and I don't want to stink up the shop/house with gasoline with everyone home.....so I'll pick back up on Tuesday I guess.
