For the oil pump... are you looking at the central wear ring on the housing? How big a step is there? Nitrous on an E30 M3? I dunno about that... |

As to the use of nitrous I am not sure that I would encourage the owner to run it......... The step in the pump is barely noticeable |

The biggest thing I notice on the engine is how strange it is. It looks like you just pull the timing cover and have access to the timing and oil pump drive chains? While they're connected? And then you simply put on the cover once everything is right? No fishing the chain though? No trying to install the pump sprockets as the cover is put in place? That can't be right is it? The world doesn't work like that does it?

It's derived from the M88 6 cylinder competition engine, which in street form in the M1, M5, M6 (and others?) has *external* oil drain back tubes because it was designed from the word go to be dry sumped. |
