Valvetrain mods for 11k rpm operation:

Dry sump conversion:
This has to be the most complex bit. clean sheet design, I knew that there was a fair amount of calcs required but kept telling myself it would be easy, a little bit at a time. took roughly 36hrs to work out the design and calc the forces involved. even reverse engineered the F360 setup to get an idea of what the factory did, thankfully my work checks out to what they did. The pressure pump will remain as is, the pan bottom gets swapped out for a new design. The pickup tube is replaced with a new flange and hose going out to the tank. That leaves the scavenge pump, this is where I went a bit off reservation and designed one from scratch to be remote. Yep, an electric driven scavenge pump, helical geared unit that can pump up to 60 GPM @ 69psi at peak. I'm currently working on sourcing a brushless motor to drive it. Brushed motors are easy enough but I'd like something a bit more maintenance free. One mfg offered a magnetic driven option, tempting but $$$$. Given that the scavenge section is not pumping to pressure the same as the pressure pump the power is far less to drive it. for example the pressure side at 57.66 GPM @ 60psi needs 1.12Hp or 841 watts, the scavenge section is a mere .110Hp or 97 watts for the same flow but with a diff head of 3 meters. That's at an equivalent 9k rpm.
With an electric setup the scavenge pump can be controlled by the ECU and monitored with a couple sensors, pressure, level, temp.
I tore down and rebuilt the gearbox, a late 328 unit. every single bearing was replaced, two synchros and one selector ring. Even had to replace the main shaft got the last one from Ferrari. parts cost alone was north of 5k. Oh and synchros are ZF, trouble is ZF sold the rights to that design to RBT trans ages ago, the same guts were used in the Ford GT. RBT is thankfully 15 mins from me! Though Ferrari used metal vs bronze baulk rings -it's an oil thing-.
