Are you painting to tighten up the fit?
If I need the piston vise I will let you know. I am good at the moment.
Way back about the time I was ordering the lapping bar I "final installed" the liners in the block so I could torque the heads to set up the bearings and just for the heck of it I put the bore gauge in...just to see. It turns out if the cylinders can move they will move. Most were within 3 so...but I think 1 was 17 iirc. i tracked the issue to the liner/block gap. I never measured the block, the shop's notes said 3.572 so I made the liners 3.571...except for the couple that were smaller and the 1 with a 5 thou taper so 3.571 at the oring but like 3.566 at the bottom that then produced 17 out of round. Checking he block, its not 3.572 eight, its 3.574+ at the bottom and most are closer to 3.576 at the oring, hence the 3 out on at the "good" liners.
I decided, in my wisdom to jbweld everything, but the 1st one I tried to clean up it pealed on when it just even close to finish size and it was past time for house work so I parked it. Picking up again now, with a different tool bit I was able to get the 3 worst liners machined round then I sanded to 3.572 and removed the jbweld from the other 9 so I had a set that should work but out 3 thou or so if installed as is.
So yeah, the paint is an attempt to add a couple thou to the spigots so they sit a bit rounder. This morning the read 3.579 so I have more than plenty at the moment. I'm leading toward seeing if I can get a hone into the spigots and straighten them out at around 3.576 and finish the liners to 0-5 tenths and install in a warm block.
I realized I have 1 one over....upstairs in the shop! I'll move these to a shelf up top to bake.
