Have you asked Cometic if they can change the bore size in an MLS gasket?
When I've ordered Cometics for the Northstar, they offer 3.690 or maybe 3.700, but will cut mine with 3.680 just because I ask. I think it's a matter of which die they install in the stamping press before they punch the gasket. I go to the smaller bore to minimize crevice volume.

3mm is a large difference in bore, but they may be able to punch custom gaskets with your bore size. I don't know how accommodative their tooling is. Can't hurt to call and ask! :geek:

they don't have a tool to change. They offer a 308 gasket and a 250V12 gasket but not so much a 400i/TR gasket ;)

In other news I'm kind of leaning toward wrapping my headers while they are odd and see if I can leave the coils where they are for the time being at least.

Be careful wrapping headers. I've seen more guys ruin headers with wrap. I only use it when I absolutely need to protect something from the heat of the header.

I've seen mild steel headers rusted away pretty quick with this stuff on them but I've used it on SS headers for .....30 years? with no issues other than streaming for 10 minutes after washing the car or out in the rain. I had the OEM 308 headers (a 400 series SS I think?) double wrapped to deal with the heat added heat from the blower and even they held up fine and could lay my hand on the headers with the engine running.

i think my biggest fear is I'll wrap them then not be able to get the pieces all assembled because I didn't leave enough space...I have a 1mm is plenty rule and this stuff is 1.5mm x2...I can't imagine I left 3mms unused anywhere

I've seen them heat up enough to where they deformed. On one guys racecar the collector fell off on the track the pipes drooped down so much.

Ahhh. I guess. On turbo setups they go to 321 or even Inconel. I'm not going to be at full power for more than a few seconds a time.

The wrap and a few cans of high heat paint will be here tomorrow

I also ordered the TR motor mounts today so I'll take care of that while the engine is out so its safe to drive when it goes back in
