Now don't jinx me! this could still go all kinds of wrong.

I had to make up the time I took from the house yesterday so not a lot done on the car. I realized I really needed to rearrange some of the basement stuff that got moved into the shop so I could safely walk and work around the car, that took an hour. getting the engine straight and the motor mounts on another hour, and finished out the night by cleaning and installing the modified 360 oil return pump.

Tomorrow I'm hoping to get the rest of the oil system hooked up and maybe the waterpump and alternator as well...hopefully.

I love seeing this kind of posting. Not wood railing or sheet rock picture anywhere.
I had my last performance of the current play and I am not involved in any play coming up.
This means I hope to join your posting of engine stuff very soon. Dune buggy is finally going to get a bigger better engine.

I also have a very old school Chevy 350 going for the wifes truck Stella.
I'll have to start a thread for Stella.

Great progress for you. I am so very excited about your progress. That thing is truly a work of art.

Don't worry, the basement/home work continues. I came really close to posting a pick of the finished stairs/railing as I was pretty proud of how it turned out but I'll save that for when there is a lull in car pics :)

Woke up early and got the oil filters ready, then remembered....yes, no way to install the front exhaust pipe with the filter in.

And it turned out the exhaust pipe is a real bugger to get onto the already bolted tight headers because they are slip joints so everything has to be about perfect and when its not slipped in place it hits the bellhouse..but I got it.

While I was there I connected up all the wire in that area as well as the fuel lines and then connected and bled the clutch so that littlew corner is done I think.

I wonder if its worth taking a borescope and pulling a few spark plugs and taking a peak at the tops of the pistons after a quick fire up at idle? Do you think you would be able to see anything if a valve kissed the pistons?

Was wondering the same, shouldn‘t you be able to verify the timing by observing postons and valves while turning the engine? May be missing something…

Oil lines connected, they look like spaghetti, which I guess is appropriate?, oil filled and system primed, and the oil seems to be staying in the engine so that's good

Went to install the alternator..oops, water pump first...oops, this hose really should go before the exhaust pipe

But eventually I did at least get the alternator in place, wires on and 1 bolt in....this is the job from hell but that will need to be continued tomorrow.

Nice, you are getting close. I feel it is going to be epic and work just like it should this time. Can't wait to one day see it in person.

Maybe to see evidence that its' happened I guess? the contact would occur when the piston is near the top so no much room left to try to see the clearances. I've kind of resigned myself to the idea that if they are hitting the damage is likely already done so better not to dwell on the idea and just hope for the best :?
