Hmmm. 16 year old son. FrankenFerrari. What could go wrong?

You're gonna need a derated programming spec for him with an unlock code for you (grin).

That is the plan I think. I won't drive until next spring and he'll be nearly 17 then but I've been thinking a lot about how to re-do the program to let it free rev and drive nice while limiting it to maybe 200hp...I'm just not exactly sure how. Table for the throttle that takes over above set MAP/RPM limits probably.

Thinking more I guess a simple throttle stop is a hp limiter and what I'm describing is a torque limiter but then I sad 200hp so mismatched units :o

.....not sure what I'm really after though. I could also get the traction control working and limit whell spin and acceleration rate as a fancier option

You didn't ask what I think, but I think you should just help him buy an FB RX-7 and give him free use of your shop. Cheaper, easier, and less emotionally fraught than making the Ferrari something you can let him drive unsupervised.

If you really want him driving the Ferrari, though, it seems to me that drive by wire would be a huge help.

FB as is FaceBook? no, no, no.......

Mama says no cars with manual transmission which is sad. Mama also has rules about rolling whatever it is into the shop which is double sad He and I thought perhaps an older Cayman might slide within the budget but mama is struggling with the older bit so not sure what we're going to buy for him as the less expensive cars don't really do the paddle shift thing, at least not very well....something's got to give as long as its not the budget.

As for driving the ferrari....well...I know how I would have felt if I could drive a ferrari to HS even just once so I don't mind doing a little work to make the happen for him. Plus if he want's to work on it that is a shop pass for me so win-win.

I've tried to talk him into a lot of stupid thing...mg midget, fiat x1/9, old beetle, R32 Golf/Gulf R, subaru,

Lana has a different list like my GLK, a salvage title slk she found, a brand new cheap anything,...its a much more practical list.

here in PA there is a minimum 6 months with a permit so this is really a 2024 problem I guess.

oh, and air tube #1 is ready for final sand. Then we'll try plastic wrap, if that doesn't go well we'l need to paint it which will delay the glass work a day or 2....but its close.
