Couldn't that decision be made after the filters are mounted and the connection to the air box is done ?Better yet when engine is running and verify that more air is needed .

Its about making enough room to fit the filters and the filters are about making driving safe for the engine. I could wait but I know me and I will drive it when it runs filters or no so I thought best to get it sorted now.

Power went out about an hour before the print finished so the first 2 stacks are scrap but other than the missing side they look pretty good. I need to get the right screws.

I love how that blue filter looks like a turbine in the intake.

I'm liking it too...there was a work light behind the filter making look radiant :)

The ideas in my head though involves seeing the filter there

My plan is a fiberglass housing that fits over the filter and fender flange to connect it to the now larger duct.  I taped up the filter and spray foamed....but I had no where near enough.  Tomorrow

Didn't get a lot of time yesterday and my spray foam wasn't fully hard...made a sticky mess of the bandsaw. So Stack production continues

It turns out getting the printer setup just right takes a little playing. If the supports are too light the part tears off in the machine and only supports come out

Too strong and the supports tear away chunks of the stack when I remove them

right now they hold and break off nice but I should have a more because the bottom isn't formed perfect (but I decided I don't care..its the bottom)

Still working on fitting the filter...I decided more cutting was needed to get the vent to curve deep enough, which meant adding more spray foam and waiting for it to dry. I went ahead and made a foam plug for the other side so that will be ready when I need it too

Then moved on to the ducting. Then plan is an oval with about the same area as a 4" round. I made a bunch of pieces and will miter than glue them. My hope is I can get it looking decent then fiberglass then pour in some acetone or similar to remove the foam. Im thinking epoxy resin as the polyester will also dissolve the foam. If that doesn't work out I'll use the epoxy/glass piece to make a mold but that is more work so hopefully this goes to plan the 1st time.

I hope it comes out good. The basic plan is the ducts will be black fiberglass and mostly hide all the hoses and wires which will accent the red airbox and just make it look cleaner overall.

I've been struggling with the filter and I'm pretty sure it will be a few step process getting something that fits and looks decent. The lump of foam slides in now, well it did before I added more foam. There is no way to work in the space so the plan is get the foam to fit then glass it, remove the foam and see what needs to be fixed, repeat until it's good or I'm discusted and no longer care.

I have a little more confidence in the duct plan but mu lost foam plan may not work out with will mean making a real mold....which would be a time sink. Fingers crossed.
