Oh, and I'm supposed to be installing proper HVAC in the basement and the shop, in theory before the summer heat hits....the lust is pretty long at the moment

But the lust is what's driving you to get the car running! ;)

Your wife's Ukranian, right? Just push your birthday back 2 weeks and call it your "orthodox birthday". :)

Engine is off the trans, on the stand with 30psi and is leaking....I'm going to eat then go have a good look at where the leak or leaks may be. Its getting hot in the shop....kind of wish this was the year it got AC.

I guess the need to remove the drop gear housing longitudinally means that you can't leave the transmission in the car and just pull the engine.

Work on it in the car? You're so funny!

Notice also the trans IS the oil pan and the timing cover has to be off....it goes in/out as a full assembly

Best I can tell it was hard to get out because some of the epoxy has turned to goo...it wipes off with lacquer thinner which ain't supposed to happen...Evan's coolant? Don't know

The other item is the bearing which is trashed..clearly it came in with the oil so crap left in the lines from the #8 catastrophe?

The crank looks fine so right now my thought is order bearings and while I'm waiting pop out the other liners to be sure they are ok and redo any that aren't.

The bearing issue...I'm leaning toward its had a couple hours or run time and 2 14 qt oil changes so I just can't imagine there is anything left but for sure I'll wash out the tank and change the filters again.

Are you sure that lacquer thinner isn't enough to break down the epoxy you used? I've seen paint thinner and acetone as recommended products to remove cured epoxy.

Maybe but this stuff is gooy and soft before the the thinner hits it, some spots are good which is what makes me think its the Evan's coolant that got in there but I need to look at another that wasn't leaking coolant I think.
