That's a lot of bolts! Some time ago I made the choice (fine, Lana made it for me) to stop storing stuff like that since mcmaster or amazon will bring me the exact right one the next day and knowing that I basically never use the old "pretty close" one, I just stored them.

Looks like good progress cleaning up though.

Is the plan to try and use the huge steel thing to keep the frame straight while you mod/repair it? so you are now basically ready to start cutting?...because I can't wait to see the shell rolled out.

348 engines use the same splined input so a 355 box should bolt right to a 348.

Right, the 348 has the clutch in back too but I thought there was a axle to engine difference? Will was on about that and was thinking 348 eng/355trans in his 308 I think and I'm remembering he thought that was the only way it would fit. i thin I read the 355 engine sits lower than the 348 because of the way they placed the input shaft?

Sean has a 348, I pinged hi to see if he can get the 348 trans face to axle number. He did randomly say last night that the 355 input shaft is basically unobtanium...$5-7k, but the 348 is $300

Then the 360 car is about 6" longer wheelbase so the the clutch is back on the engine but the 348 and 388 are about the same, but both 4" longer than a 308 or 246

We hunt wild boar at night down south. Night vision scopes and such. They can really destroy property if left unchecked, so we "check" a few from time to time. I don't think there is a season for wild boar either.

Yes, we had boar around here until recently (escaped boar x Tamworth), but the local farmers eventually managed to trap the last of them. I remember that when I first saw the damage they did, I thought it'd been done by some sort of large mechanical equipment! We shot a few before they were finally exterminated; they certainly tasted good! :)

I shoot Crackles that nest in the trees around my pool and take the shit from the nest and throw it in the pool, which is normally covered so the cover ends up looking disgusting. I just hate them. The problem I have with the air riffle (switch has a build in suppressor which is allowed on air guns) the scope moves back a little after every shot from the way it kicks I guess. Anyway, the birds are back so I need to reset the scope and clean them out, about a dozen every spring

Yes - I can see that buying in bolts as necessary would require a lot less storage, but I obtain mine on an opportunistic basis. In other words, if I get the chance to acquire a bulk lot at a silly price, I do so. Over the years, this has resulted in my amassing an enormous quantity. I still buy in those which I need but don't have, but by careful inspection I can usually find places that sell, say, a quantity of 100 for not much more than the price of the few I actually need. That way I can put those left over in stock.

As for the 'huge steel thing' - yes, that will be my chassis jig for all the necessary operations. I have no intention of actually cutting anything until I know what powerplant is going in there though - and that won't happen until I've sold the car that is currently sitting next to it (as I need the cash injection). This will be a complicated process though as it won't be an everyday sale. It'll probably have to go through one of the specialist auction houses, which the very thought of makes my blood run cold as their fees are so extortionate. I also need to finish and move the Land Rover that I've been building for years. Hopefully, this won't take much more effort - I'm just having a breather from it after a prolonged and frantic period!

I have absolutely no idea what a Crackle is - some kind of crow?

If your scope is moving like that you have faulty mounts. I see this quite often - also, they need to be set up so that the recoil pin is in the right place - that way the scope itself can't go anywhere!

Sorry, Gracles, like a small crow, maybe 1/2 the size. Was re-setting and re-siting yesterday and after I finished decided to google, "install the recoil pin" ...recoil pin? shit. next time

This is another thing Lana has tough me over the years....you can can't serve 2 masters so I'm allow 1 project. She can have as may as she like because she's the Queen but I can have 1

At this point I can't even imaging the 308 ever actually being done, it seems like there is always something and the Lincoln engine build that follows sits....10 years now I think.

Do you think we'll see Dino progress this year?

I'm kind of surprised in the internet age to see auction houses surviving honestly. If the 308 had to be sold I don't think an auction would even cross my mind. It would go on Ebay as a listing with a make offer button probably and put the word its listed on the a couple forums but that usually takes a while. If it had to sell quickly then BaT seems to get the just done best over here, but auctions are always wholesaling it really. The fancy ones look like top dollar sales but by the time you've paid the fees you're back to wholesale money. Over here they have dealer auctions where in most states you must be a licensed dealer to bid and a LOT of car change hand that way with low fees but again wholesale prices because its dealers moving inventory they don't want or couldn't sell. Not knowing what you're selling but there are brokers for most everything but they need to make money to so that beings me back to ebay as the closest to retail price money in my pocket I've ever gotten for anything. Good luck with it!

I think our equivalent would be the jackdaw - horrible things that kill any song-bird nestlings they can get at; I have a firearms-rated air rifle for dealing with them.
