I just got off the phone with GT parts....my parts will be here Monday or Tuesday and should include everything I need to finish up both the timing case and the drop gear case as well as exhaust manifold gaskets...so I think I should have all the actual ferrari parts I need.

Very little time tonight but I did a couple little things.

First the rear main seal went in

Then I wondered if the TR cam cover were usable or if I was stuck with sealant... with a little trimming I think they'll work. Once the covers are bolted on I'll trim off the old oil returns that are sticking out and it should be good.

Forgot this part. When I called today to add some stuff to the list and follow up they were confused by the quantities of a couple things...400s only use 2 of those???? ....yeah, it's a frankenferrari :)

I spent some time staring at piles of parts that I'm pretty sure mostly have no value....it sure makes it hard to find the parts that do have value.

I installed water plugs in the ends of the heads and thought I'd install the oil pressure sender....I know it works but it looks pretty nasty so time for a new one I think.

Also I got to thinking I can probably use the 400i oil filter housing as my remote filter setup so I'll keep this part on the shelf just a bit longer :)

It turns out the oil pressure sender I have from the 308 doesn't fit the 400 anyway so I never had a choice to replace or not.

It away turns out a 400 is not a 308 and so I don't have all the right tools. I had to make special socket to change the bearing in the timing chain drive. I make these by finding a 12 point socket that is as close as possible to the Od of the nut then cut it. The first one I ever made I cut it with a cut-off wheel in the die grinder but laterly I use a carbide endmill in the milling machine....it's faster and easier. I think it took longer to make the wrench than to change out the bearing and install the drive.

There's gold in them boxes!

I got a few things left over on ebay. You never know who's looking for something odd.
