Now I will post the pictures in the correct order... I am in the process of changing the front end over to an '86 so that I get disc brakes and power steering. My first ever cnc machined part was a bracket to space the steering gear on the frame so that I didn't have to cut a big notch out of it. I am also using a later model 5 speed to ditch the god awful dump truck tranny that was in there. P.S. Painting stripes is an absolute BITCH

My goodness you're busy! The truck looks good. Is it about done now so you can focus on the Europa? |

Yes thank god! All I really need to do now is swap the front end, weld up the exhaust and start putting panels back on the thing! The motor was rebuilt about 4 years ago and I broke it in on a stand a few months back. The one poo poo on my plate is that I haven't finished painting the bed fenders and tailgate yet. I grossly underestimated the amount of work required to get the entire truck prepped for paint by myself. I quit my job last June to focus on it and the time just slipped away. I was scheduled to take a new job in august so that slowed things down considerably...The place where I painted it was scheduled to get torn down last october...then it turned in to november...then december...Now it is Feb and they still haven't torn it down. I am hoping for warm weather to return so I can finish those damn panels out there. I actually planned to paint the Europa out there so I really hope they decide not to tear it down yet! Luckily I now know a few guys with booths who might take a bribe to let me spray on the weekend.

Sandblasted the "new" crossmember...new ball joints and bushings again... and now my 50 year old truck has disc brakes!

Had to get my front tires refitted yesterday. The original installer did a piss poor job and they leaked from the rim. Everything is good now! Here is a shot of my bracket on the steering gear. Hopefully I can get that bolted up soon. I tacked the pipe bend up but I think I need to do mild S bend from the section that leaves the headers. My pipe is a little too close to the frame so I will probably need to drop it an inch or so to get it to clear the center cross member. Cab may be on soon!
