Good to hear / see good progress again. Are you getting the engine in by yourself?

About the WBO2; how were you interpreting results before this? While tuning my engine i used the controller of the ECU (i am running a VEMS) and this was very easy to control.

Probably. Sometimes I'll try and talk my older son into help

There is nothing wrong with in-ecu controllers, the issue I have is I don't have tested model (the logic level code used in my ecu) to run it...I have my best guesses. The other maybe minor issue is the base code for operating the sensor is intended for a 4.2 sensor which is a fixed gain where 4.9 sensors like different gain above and below stoich so I lose resolution.

I know they were working on some new code and a model to go with it but I'm not sure the status which brings me to considering and external option so I'm not muddling through creating a working rough tune with only plug reads. I might wait to see what I get on the NB O2 sensor now that I think the coolant stay out of the exhaust

There is no real way to get a wench on the nuts bolting the engine to the trans and every time I say I'm going to do something...well I finally did! I ordered some JIS standard M8 nuts that use a 12mm wrench instead of the ISO/DIN standard 13mm wrench. Mcmaster even had them in yellow zinc plating to match everything else so I'll swap them out when they arrive.

Okay understood! I hope the new control model works better. Might be nice to go to a garage and use a calibrated tool to verify your values.

Rough tuning is always a weird place to be ...I haven't been to the dyno so I don't know what reading the engine likes for full power. At idle its about getting it run smooth so again I don't know what the reading should be. Then cruise I guess around 14.7 which means the 4 NBO2 sensors I have should be happily in there comfort zone.

So right now I 'm just looking for ballpark data but I'm pretty sure the sensor setup I have now is just not working right. I have cheap sensors and now reading reviews most are unhappy with them so I just ordered a pair for real bosch sensors. I know the model Jim sent me is functional so I'll add that to my ECU along with the real sensors and see what I get.....and hopefully the head stays sealed.

It also just occurred to me this morning that I need oil and filters...best get that ordered or it will be a quiet weekend.

Looking through Jim's WBO2 control model (he's got an SBC in an Ultama so kind of cool) and mine is, if I'm reading it right, is he's using a different fixed gain to get the better lean readings a 4.9 can do and I chose the lower gain to get bet rich side resolution but I'll load his as is and see what I get with the new sensors vs the cheap shit ones which could well have been my whole problem

Tracking says everything I ordered yesterday is arriving today. If I can get the timing cover and chain on tonight I should be able to drop it in Friday....should.
