Seeing the the big ''1000'' Hp again got me thinking, how can you use even half of that in a 308. ANY pedal input will spin tires, but no, traction control will take care of that and ''cut power'', but then, what is the use for the rest? Wouldn't you need BIG BIG tires to handle that much power? I just don't see any situations where all available power can be applied to the wheels. But awesome bragging rights!
A fair question and why the original plan was 550-600hp

What you're saying is absolutely true about 1st gear, mostly true about 2nd gear, maybe true about 3rd gear but probably not true about about 4th or 5th gears, at least going straight.....which is the answer to your question I think. The problem though of course is that it's making that power at high rpm and I already changed the final drive ratio so the shift into 4th will be at like....120-130mph? and into 5th at 150-160? Something like that and WAY above anything remotely safe without a track to drive on and a full cage and harness setup but I guess that's true for any car with massive hp leaving bragging rights as the only actual gain from the hp.
Personally I think 400hp to maybe 500hp is the real sweet spot for a hopped up 308. I also think we're looking at the end of an era on hopped up 308s. With the newest carts 30 years old and the values moving up I just don't see that 308s are being modified much anymore.
