I think I'm going to order a couple 2" highflow Quiet mufflers from these guys
http://www.stainlesssteelmufflers.com/350mufflers.htm

I need to call..they also have something they call a Muscle car muffler that is louder.....I need to understand how loud.

2" exhaust is goo for 375-400hp normally....with quiet mufflers maybe 300-325 would be my guess. That will bring me to around 4000 rpm at WOT and much higher at partial throttle before the exhaust is a restriction I think on the quiet mufflers. I'm hoping this may have the added benefit of cancelling out some bad exhaust pulses that in the 3k-4k range.

There will also be the pair of 3" borla mutli-tube (to help with pipe drone)race mufflers that are good for about 750-800hp. These will be on ECU controlled cut-off valves....I can program whatever opening load vs rpm curve I like

The SS muffler guy is awesome. I't s a little shop in Alabama that's been making mufflers since 1947. I talked to RJ who's the 2nd owner and has owned it for 35 years now. These things are made to order and he promises I'll be thrilled with the workmanship. He wants it to sound right and understands I don't want pissed off neighbors but he hasn't done one for a ferrari before so he's going to go through his notes and look a bit at the flow numbers to make 300hp at 4000 rpm and wants to be sure I'll call him after I get it running to let him know what I think.....to sell me 2 mufflers at $119 each. I'm sure they'll be great but even if I end up hating the sound there is just no way I could be mad at the guy.

i make a fancy cardboard muffler to play with...and I THINK I have a plan. It's the right side that's tight because of where the collector drops down and needs to turn. I could put the mufflers sideways but that means a lot extra of bends.. WRONG! So playing with it I thin the round one will fit to the outside with the oval borlas to the inside and then come out the back with 4 2.5" or even 3" tips, which might be easier because with 2/5 I'd be pretty tempted to merge the pipe so the mufflers share the tips so I don't restrict the 3" muffler.

I kind of need to wait for parts I think....maybe I can do something on the front collector, I'll have a look at that I guess.

The flanges are all a little bowed/twisted, particularly the front set so I strapped them down to the table and hit them with the torch, then the belt sander and they now seem good. The one header was pointed a bit at the bellhousing so I shimed it while clamping and heat to fix the flange and it now points where it should.

So an hour+ later I'm finally ready to start thinking about the collector and how to snake it out and over the bellhousing.

I have been very curious about how an X-pipe would affect the sound and exhaust capability of an even fire engine with even fire banks.
