I have been very curious about how an X-pipe would affect the sound and exhaust capability of an even fire engine with even fire banks.

Burns told me an x pipe would help a little if if was possible to install one, but not to worry if it was a challenge as the gain would be quite small.

I built it years ago to use to make motorcyle frames...it's very handy for weld/fab type work.

I've been trying to decide is I want the exhaust cut-out vales normally open of normally closed.

If I knew I had good vacuum from the engine I'd go normally open and know at low power they will be closed when I want them closed...but I suspect I'll need to run a small vacuum pump and I think I'd rather run the pump at higher power/rpm when I won't hear it so I'm leaning toward normally closed and not even bothering trying to get vacuum from the engine...but that seems defeatist.

Just order normally open. I'll try it and see what happens

Gee, that valve is a lot of hassle for no gain.

Just make the car so it is just legal noise wise and you will get most definitely enough noise from the drivers seat from the inlets anyway. Those valves are for posuers driving by people/hopeful audience members not for real cars like this one.

Seems like show when I thought "we" were building a go ;)

LOL

The gain is my neighbors don't hate :)

There is also a decent chance that the small restrictive mufflers help damp the damaging reversion pulses around 3500 rpm. Remember these are very fast acting vacuum valves controlled by the ECU that OEMs like ferrari and BMW now put on everything, not the slow manual controlled electric valves popular with the ...ummm...cruiser crowd :)

Also when I planned all this I couldn't find a 3.5" multicore muffler like the 3" versions I have. The multicore is important to get rid of the "fart can" sound you get from big diameter exhaust pipes.....and I REALLY didn't want it to sound like it had fart cans on it. Borla does make them now so that will be fall back I guess if my fancy valve system turns out to be a failure.

I don't think I'm going to have any of the exhaust parts for the weekend so I need to plan something else to do :(

I want to shim the motor mounts so the engine doesn't bounce and rattle on the frame I guess that is on the sooner rather than last list....and the oil tank...and pedal stuff...and ECU....and brakes......I'll find something to do I guess.

Take 5 minutes to modify the frame :o :o ... just suggesting :). If you are talking about that bit that is close to the clutch housing and drop gears.

Best

It's not that bit, I think that will be fine. The issue is right behind that on the top of the frame rail...there is about 1/16th clearance and that is not nearly enough I fear.
