A long day without a lot of visible progress.

Fixed the wire that go to teh relocated alternator and got them into place so the alternator should work now.

Extended the starter solenoid and got all the wires going to and from the starter finished and in place so the starter should work when I turn the key now (I'd been just jumpering it to crank the engine). The oil line are now clamped too so the rear headers are ready to go on I think.

Extended the oil temp sensor wire and got it into position...and realized I'd installed a temp switch instead of temp sending unit so I had to pull the oil filter housing and fix that. At least I had to make the hole bigger not smaller.

Moved a water hose that I ran on the wrong side of the factory wiring harness.

Got the probably oversize power wire I ran to the truck trimmed and mated to a bunch or smaller wires to feed everything that needs power.

Realized it was a pretty dumb idea to put a fuse box under the trunk panel with the other electronics so I'd need tools to change a fuse. I'll move it to the top but then a different style box would be better and I probably need more than 8 fuses anyway so I ordered 2 6-fuse boxer because the only 10-12 position boxes I found had pigtails and I hate that.

Time's up for today but I did get the harness measured for ECU connector position and back of the car so I'm ready to start installing those connectors.

Another week of wiring I guess.........

God all that wiring reminds me I still have to make a split harness for Nicks build.. The one part of a harness I hate is the 'Y' split, there's no real good clean way to do it with shrink tube and sleeving. However BMW has these great two piece clamps just for that, short of recycling them off old an harness I need to track down a MFG of said bits. Oh and BMW has to me the best coil plug, bulky but great, it's probably a bosch thing but I've only noticed it on BMW's from the late 90's thru mid 2000's, it's the positive slide lock. I used the entire coil harness setup off a 2005 M5 for the supercharged build that went to OZ. came out real clean. The Germans have a thing for sub harnesses, more work but makes pulling and working on the engine a lot easier later.

Man am I not looking forward to the harness work.... :(

Doesn't Nick's car already have EFI installed? Needs an upgrade?

Normally I'd say I need to have a look at the BWM wiring.....but at this moment with mine nearly finished I think it's best that I don't look :)

Yeah he did, we tore that engine out and started over... 4L QV vs 3.5L 2V. New ECU, Link Thunder... vs Electromotive. I'm not fond of adapting the old harness, having to keep track of colors, not to mention different lengths sensors etc.. so start over. Short cutting in a couple places though, have a 360 engine harness and it's subs, so I'm using what I can from that, mostly terminal ends and the coil harness bits. Will re-wire it though. Same for the sub harness for the knock sensors.

The new fuse boxes came today and I got them mounted, they will work nicely I think. The problem is the new laser for the bb machine pistol also came today so I had to spend so time adjusting and shooting and only get a few wires connected to the new fuse box.

You'll shoot your eye out!

Is that to keep the deer away or the neighbors cat out of the garden?

LOL, I bought him a red rider a couple year ago :)

It serves no practical purpose what so ever....mostly it's to knock over plastic bottles so we can stand then back up. It's just a lot of fun to see stuff flying everwhere and now we don't need to really even aim to make that happen

Still wiring......

I didn't get a ton of time today but do have the relays mostly done and I'm about ready to actually connect something to the ECU. Tomorrow maybe.

A couple pics just so you can all feel my pain with wires everywhere.

I discovered there is simply no way to pin the ECU connector without a crimper. By dumb luck U have a crimper that I was able to make work. Yay!.

i don't remember if I mentioned this but I decided not to wrap the wires on the panel, I'll just zip tie them because they don't show and it will be WAY easier to make changes.

I also decide to with the innovative WBO2 controllers with the same plug/pinout as the NBO2 sensors I'm using. This will allow me to plug a WB in at any connector if I want to trouble shot something and I had the connectors so it seemed a no brainer.

Ok...the harness is in the car. There's still more work though. I ran out of the shield terminations so I couldn't finish up everything but got the important stuff. Maybe by the weekend I'll be ready to start testing stuff.
