Speaking of oil I decided to fill an prime the oil system this morning so after cranking I could get the battery recharged for later...no oil pressure WTF?

inspect everything....I know its pumping cuz this fitting is leaking a little, tighten the fitting, crank a bit more....fitting still leaks a little but no pressure.

Plug in the computer and everything looks fine with the pressure sensor .

Disconnect the leaking fitting figuring I can see if oil is flowing and also see if there is anything wrong with the sealing surface....DOH! Clearly my head was not completely in the gam yesterday

Remove the paper towel and the fitting seals fine and there is 85psi cranking with the plugs out.

Congratulations, you invented the in-line oil filter!

Brave man firing that up inside the garage without the exhaust facing out the door after what happened last time. Hopefully you pushed it back into the house garage before firing it up so you didn't take a chance on burning the new garage down

Glorious!!!

I discovered this site after following this project on GRM for a couple of years. I never registered there, but I joined here just to say Bravo for not only this build, but for standing up for your principles.

Looking forward to more updates and other projects!

Lana scolded me badly too. It was getting late, I was tired and had not power left to push it out plus this is just a repair on a setup that was already well tested.....or so I told myself.

Looking at the log I see an engine temp of -20C....which probably means I forgot to plug in the coolant temp sensor so the ECU was adding 60% more fuel. I don't see anything else wrong so far. Tomorrow its going to be pretty cold out son next run maybe not until Tuesday and I will continue through the log and make sure anything that looks wrong is sorted.

Cold just means your tune with the disconnected CTS will be closer! :D

Yes, yes there is a good reason I don't work in QA.

Here's the main tuning log...it looks like rpm was a low of 1400, high 5200, oil pressure 75-115, fuel rich as expected,

The cylinder data looks good...the 2 NBO2 sensors all about the same, nothing much on the misfire defector at the top, cylinder MAP compensation appears to be doing its thing correctly

TB sync is terrible....a bit off bank to bank which isn't a surprise after having everything apart but the banks themselves look decent.

Overall It looks pretty good in the ECU....hopefully the plugs are telling a similar story.

And the floor's still dry :!:

Running pretty far behind schedule for the day....I may not make it.

Coolant is in and just like last time the system appears to define gravity. The level in the tank is at least 4" above the opened bleeder fitting and nothing comes out. I even tried a little pressure in the tank but nothing comes out the vent. Weird but on to wires

Is your thermostat weird? Does it recirculate or is it old school? Did you have trouble burping the cooling system last time?

The surge tank should be fed by small lines from every high spot in the cooling system and have an outlet straight into the waterpump inlet.

Congrats on the successful restart, no smoke, and dry floor. :D

Had the same problem last time, front on the ground, rear jacket high helped both times. Its a mustang T-stat setup that looks quite similar to the normal 308 setup, yes it recirculates. Yes a hose on the tank to the water pump and another as high as I could practically get it on the engine which is about where the 308 hose was.

I just can quite wrap my head around how a big hole in the system well below the fluid level doesn't leak :?:
