Hopefully this will be a thanksgiving with an engine to be thankful for...if not Wade just suggested I drydeck it and never ever think about coolant in the cylinders again. Certainly something to ponder......

That stuff should be fully cured and as good as its going to get. There are other versions that are "pour and go" which can be used with coolant and left in so that's something to think about....right now my thought is if It slows the leaking to tolerable then its good. This misty/rainy this morning and I need to roll the car outside to flush out any sealant that's left but its supposed to stop by noon.

In the meantime:
I'll have a look at the plugs and probably clean them

Maybe drill a hole in the Tstat...it seals closed so well that the system vent above it doesn't work unless the engine is hot, a hole should solve that and I'm not sure I care that would make warmup a little slower.

I want to take a look at the TB linkages.....I'm really struggling to get this thing below about 1800rpm. As I pulled out fuel and got the mixtures better the rpm kept rising as it should, but the TBs were already "closed" leaving me pulling out time timing as the only way to control idle RPM. I think what might be going on is when they are out of sync, 1 will fully close 1st, and that will hold the others open. I could also maybe add some springs on the linkages to make sure there is no slop causing this.

It wasn't as happy as I first thought idling in the driveway temp wise, which I suspect is partly RPM related...the V8 was fine but it idled at 1200-1400 cold, 1000 hot and now I have almost double the displacement at almost double the rpm. Scott built a similar spec 3.9L V8 for his boss. it even sounds the same as mine:

He says 1200 was the best he's ever done idle wise and he's got 52mm TBs vs my 54mm. We chatted a little on fchat and I'm pretty sure I have better control of the mixture at low rpm so I still have hope I'll get done to 1000rpm...but the video I posted was 1200-1400 so maybe not and I'll need to start designing/shopping for a much better fan setup as discusses last fall? Don't recall but Will made the point that if the fan isn't pulling amps then its not moving air and mine doesn't pull a lot of amps so.....

This is definitely where I'd put my money. With 12 TBs, a proper sync seems like a necessary but not sufficient condition for getting the idle right.

As for the springs, I think you've had more ITB setups apart than I have, but I'll note that I've never seen a bike without springs as part of the linkage.

The fan in my 2005 Benz E320 CDI is ~20.5" (520mm?) in diameter and has either 8 or 10 ga wire feeding the PWM controller, which is attached to the shroud... For reference related to what Benz thinks a good fan is.

Edit:

You have spring-loaded adjuster screws between each TB, right?

Each TB has a return spring...I was just thinking maybe add more...not sure but yes on the sync before continuing , I know that is not wrong so best fix it before continuing

I fired it up and started playing with the sync but heard a new noise that was getting louder, pressing the clutch stopped it....I don't think I topped of the trans oil so the drop gear bearings where likely dry, hopefully not ruined.
