You just can't have nice stuff anymore. 23 years and how many miles? They should be like new.

About 15k I guess. There is a groove next too the retainer band where they are really thin which seems a strange design (unless thats part of the tear). It could also just be all the handling they've been thru vs the actual use as I'm WAY over the the normal engine in/out cycles for 15k miles. Whatever the cause they are torn so one more thing on the to-do and must purchase lists.

A non-update today. The engine is still in the car. There was a work trip, son's mountain bike races which are all a few hours away and over 2 days, then there is a floor refinishing project to deal with which at least in my mind will take a LOT of time. I have begun to negotiate that once the floor is done car time be set aside because I fear if it doesn't kick of by like mid Nov then having the drop gears fixed by spring seems unlikely. Also come spring summer next year is I've kind of promised older son a car and may have agreed to it being a BRZ/F86 and also may have agreed to a body kit and turbo or LS swap (all of which obviously still faces a likely veto) so having the 308 fixed by spring seems pretty urgent. But today it off to the bike races.

Bike racing? How cool. We need a page for that and updates and pictures and stuff.
The car will get done. I have faith. 8-)

Sorry, false alarm, this is mountain bike racing so peddles no engine.

3+hour drive to get there so reading up on brz engine swaps and looking at what's on offer done or sort of done which will be easier to get approved

I doubt this is interesting to you, but the Mazda 2.5L KLZE V6 is a very sweet, seriously overlooked engine. Crapgineering fabricates stuff to make it work in RWD applications with ITBs adapted from Triumph motorcycles:

Anyhow, enjoy the racing!

I'm a big fan of engines bands matching the cars brand in general so the whole LS in a subaru does trouble me and so far the approval conversation hasn't gotten anywhere near a sports car much less one with an engine swap.

The deal is supposed to be that once I finish the floor then I can have shop time so today I am starting to move the gas fireplace from 1 wall to the other and put a window where the fireplace is now....because the hearthstone needs to go and the floor patched so clearly they are the same project :? Plus mountain biking will be 3 weekends this month which would bugger my sanding and finishing schedule so might as well be productive I'm told.

Just checking in. Is everyone doing okay?

I did get my 74 Camaro running and moving. Rear brakes are not totally sorted. hard to bleed brakes by myself. I need to wire the cooling fans. Complete car rewire is done, everything works. Need to wire the aftermarket AC and go drive the hell out of it.

What do you mean you did car work? what the heck?!?!?

A lot of silence from me but the move the fireplace project is finally in motion but so late that sand the floor is probably delayed until spring. The window I need to install as part of tis project isn't even ordered so I'm trapped here for at least 3 more weeks if not more. By then it will be pretty cold out so opening windows to air the house will make the house too cold for the new finish to dry properly hence the delay on that project.

But i do have a couple weeks of vacation to use before the end of the year so I do expect to get the engine out and going on the gear soon.
