I also ditched the fuel injection on my wife's C10 for an Edelbrock carb and that thing just works. Fires up every time and runs really well.
Oh well, high tech lost that one.

Running good is all that matter. It's hard to beat the simplicity of a carb and I've always kind of wondered about throttle body EFI setups. The OEMs ditched them pretty quickly (although the one I had ran fine). They strike me as the worst of both worlds in many ways...all the complexity of EFI with few of the benefits kind of thing. Port EFI helps make big cams more streetable and you can run larger throttle sizes on the street which often adds hp but those thing come at a cost in $$ and tuning time and I'm not so sure TBI does any of that.

All that said, I'm certain the carbs on you buggy are much too small and some big ITBs would make it even more better than it already is

Yes, the carbs on my buggy are too small but it hauls the mail for what it is and I am very happy with that.
The carb on my Camaro is too big. Runs great but won't pass a gas station. I am going to put a smaller vacuum secondary carb on and see if that helps the drivability.

Yeah ...I guess if you want it to drive nice having a carb on the smaller side rather than the bigger side is probably the right choice.....at least one of us is smart enough to do things in moderation. But are you sure I can't talk you into ITBs?

I would love to have ITBs but with my check book, vintage twin 34s bought from an old storage unit will have to do.

On another note, the 383 Camaro just got a smaller carb as well. I had an 850 cfm Quickfuel double pumper with adjustable everything and put on a Holley 650 vacuum secondary last night. So much better in the idle/drivability zone. Plus, I might be able to afford to pass a gas station now.

All that sounds both reasonable and responsible which is perhaps why none of it occurred to me

In other news The fireplace is pretty close I expect that to wrap up this weekend then its just the window where the fireplace was...not sure when that will arrive but I would like to have the opening prep'd and ready and will mean I can have at least a little shop time.

16 year old now has a driver's license...that's a bit scary. There is a Toyota deal on the way home about a mile from the motor vehicle so we stop and told the sales guy "we want to look at sports cars" only to learn they had none. It was a younger sales guy who looked quite confused so I added Google told us they had a GR86 we'd like to se only to learn it was still in transit...not that we were going to actually buy anything but i thought a few test drives would be a nice celebration, but the plan failed, nothing in stock anywhere close. Oh well.

Kid needs a 2002 Cobalt for a first car anyway.

Come on, I've been waiting 16 years to buy a sportscar for a 16 year old! I have decide to wait until spring (no new car in the snow) and make sure its not got a lot of hp so I feel like I'm at least trying to use good parenting skills....he's got learn to carry speed in the turns and its hard to learn that when you can just mash the gas on the straight to make up for it right?

Has he done a defensive/advanced driving course. That is the best money you can spend on your kid when he starts driving: learn to recognise the threat and be able to deal any consequences of the avoiding action or just how to react when learning to carry speed through a corner.
