what does the type4 weight? 200?250? Something like that?

This will be a slow build for budget reasons....my comptroller is anything but on-board at the moment is not on board and starting assumes the ferrari is running and into its shakedown period. But I will be trying to keep an eye out for things I can use available locally...I need a body and trans before I can do any real chassis design I think but yes, I am planning some basic drawings at least.

The plan for the frame is that it will mostly be 1.0"OD x .028 wall and stupid light. What I call the main roll hoop will be heavier as I'm fond of my head, but not heavy enough to be called a roll hoop by any credible racing organization so still light. The rule with space frame design is opens are triangle (or fitted with shear plates), all points/node supported in 3 dimensions, and loads only applied at nodes. Its that last one that requires drawings be made....motor and suspension mount locations need to be known before any frame building can begin..mostly

The pic below is my 1st attempt at a space frame. I was ahead of the engine and suspension teams so I added rigid but heavier members that could tolerate a-arm mounts that were TBD. That bare frame was...31lbs? and like 4 lbs or that was due to not knowing the suspension mounts and heavy in general with me just being conservative. The version that was to replace this but wasn't built was 24lbs and but were fully compliant with the race safety rules. I'm expecting the bare frame for this project to be in the 50-80lb range depending how hard I decide to work at making it light.

I know I'm supposed to be fixing the 308 engine but I thought this would be the year I got to play with the Lincoln and I find it on my mind more and more. I think its good I was delayed though as the whole thing is clear now.....really what I want to build is almost full fendered lotus 7

and the 26 roadster could work but isn't really "it". I'm wondering if a bantom body is closer

and maybe the final thing should have a bit of '35 Lincoln k model feel to it more than '26 ford?

A mental side-track got me wondering if I could do something that had an early mid-engine feel. I found a 1938 Miller gulf special

Then kinda sketched a bit from there.......

I spent some time messing with chatGPT and copilot image generation...worthless really.  After the fist few failures I thought maybe take something and edit but even simple instructions are ignored.  It looks I'll need to draw what I want.

Between chatgpt and copilitot spitting out literally random sketches, then and cut, past, and paint I have this roughed out as a starting point....still too roundy but I think going in s useful direction...kind of a bug/speedster feel at the moment so that flavor needs to go away.

So a heavily sectioned 33/34 ford body would probably work

You would have to push the cab of a 33 forward a bit if the v12 is in the back - it is not the roomiest place as it is. I like a chopped and channelled roadster. I will have to have a look, a guy about 15 years ago in California dropped a LS and Ford GT transmission in the back seat/trunk of a 37 Ford coupe and kept the stock dimensions.

Here we go: https://www.hotrod.com/features/hrdp-13 ... ford-coupe
