Re what to put in attic space: you put stuff up there. All kinds of stuff. Looks like you have a nice unplanned area. Put in tongue-and-groove subfloor and a pull-down ladder.
Yes, yes, yes.
I have a 30'X40' or made even a littler larger garage. No attic. Running out of space to put things
Almost all wall space is covered with tables or shelves.
Those trusses are 2x4 bottom on 24" centers with about a 9' span so as it they aren't going to safety hold much weight. If I add the left over 2x6s it would be strong enough and I've seen pot light housings that will work in that space so its do-able....and I'll probably do it.
But I'm not kidding when I say I'm not sure what I'll put up there. I'm not a keeper in general. I store stuff during a project then I clean up/clean out before the next project. I keep tools and basic materials so maybe stuff like my wire/connectors/ect that I don't use that often and won't be bothered by temperature or mice (I'm in the county) could live on a shelf or in a bin up there. I'll keep the leftover shingles, they could go up there.
If the opening were bigger than 2' wide I might put stuff like the bikes or kayaks up there for the winter...but I still need a place for them downstairs when its warm and I don't have an equal volume of winter stuff to swap, just the snowblower and a couple sleds. They do make little cargo lifts...maybe I could do a pull down stair and something like a 3x6 lift:
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Garage-Gator-1 ... 1000239759that would make putting bikes and such up there easy.....or some kind of drop down ramp....I don't know
My real fear is I want to build a boat after the car. If I do that the garage will be full with no place left to work....then maybe the lift goes in the other garage so I can stuff 3 cars in it. 1 bay has a big beam hanging down but the other is 10-11 feet tall. Or I sneak a shed behind the garage for the yard stuff. ....a problem for another day.
